Who would have thought that our old school gym lockers would be making such a fashion statement today. Industrial chaise lounge, you wouldn’t normally put those three words together.  But get an old worn solid metal chaise lounge and add some vintage canvas padding and you’ve got some cool industrial style going on.

I like that the yellow paint on this chaise is practically worn down to the metal frame.  It gives a nice vintage industrial look.  And forget some pretty floral print that would usually go on the back porch.  Get some heavy duty canvas in army green and you’ve got one great industrial strength chaise lounge.

Add a pad to the back and I could definitely do some serious lounging on this metal chaise!

I’m so glad that Sweden’s King Gustav III liked to travel to France and meet up with Louis XVI.  If he hadn’t, there wouldn’t be these great antique sofas that were born out of the Gustav period.

These antique sofas are perfect examples of Sweden’s classic gray and off-white finishes.  The lines are curvy but simple and I think I like them better now with the worn wood and tattered upholstery.  And if you’ve ever looked close at one of these classic sofas you’ll see the real horse hair padding.

Not sure I’m ready to replace my cushy sectional yet but I sure can appreciate the beauty in these vintage Swedish sofas.

Industrial metal lighting has a look all its own.  You can’t mistake it for those lamps that used to sit on each side of your mother’s sofa.  And there is definitely no plastic wrap on these industrial lamp shades.

The shape of these metal lamps is unique because they served a purpose.  They were meant to work.  Their long necks were meant to stretch over work areas and they rotated sideways, up or down, any which way you moved.  There were no 3 way soft light bulbs either.  Industrial lighting was there to do just that, provide ample light for you to do your work.

Now we appreciate the hard work these industrial lights put in and the hard natural materials they were made from.  Heavy iron and metal now worn to their natural patina.  Enjoy the photos, the future is bright!

Industrial wood and metal carts, rusted metal wire baskets and iron and wood stools, I’m in heaven!  This industrial factory cart has definitely paid it’s dues but I could see it’s retirement as a great working island in the kitchen.  It has a worn wood top that’s perfect for cutting and the metal is so heavy that it just doesn’t move.  Of course, it has wheels if you want to move it.

The rusted metal baskets would go great in the kitchen too.  Rarely do you see round vintage metal wire baskets and these would be perfect for storing produce.  And to complete the picture add a good working industrial stool to use while you’re taking that much needed coffee break.  Repurposing vintage industrial furnishings has really extended their normal life expectancy. Maybe they should have invested in a good 401K plan!
